Drum Tab: Proclaim

Proclaim is the only song on the album that was written around a drum part; specifically the beat used in the verses. It was also written before Under the Rose was conceived at a rehearsal with a different group of musicians. As was my custom at the time, I dumped it into Hydrogen (a free drum machine) when I got home that night. It reminded me a lot of one of my favorite bands/drummers when I was a teen: Danny Carey of Tool. Sometime later, Aaron and I were hanging out and discussing our current musical endeavors and I played the sample I exported from Hydrogen for him. I guess he thought it was pretty neat because the next time we talked about it, he was showing me a completed version of Proclaim that was very close to the version that ended up on the album. It wasn't until after we had put together a few other songs (Behold the Wicked Man, Divide and Be Conquered, etc.) and decided we might want to pursue an entire album that we came back to this song, put some finishing touches on it, and recorded it.

I don't pretend to think that any of the drum parts I write are particularly innovative or difficult. However, I hope that beginners will find the tablature useful and, perhaps, more seasoned drummers will find it convenient.
